The Watches of 2015

As we close out 2015, the watch site that everybody reads, Hodinkee, did a post titled "The Watch I Wore The Most In 2015, By Every Single Member of the HODINKEE Team".  The list?

Obviously the A. Lange & Sohne piece that Kevin Rose wore is stunning, but the prevalence of NOMOS on the list is pretty interesting.  NOMOS, for most non-watch people, is not a well-known brand.  The watches are incredibly simplistic in-style, with minimal bezels and dial distractions.  The watches are not too expensive, either - with most of the models ranging from $1700 USD to $5000 USD.  They do have two models (The Lux and Lambda) that are in the $20000 USD price range.

NOMOS has a fascinating "Swing System" movement, which is used on its Minimatik and Metro models.  It's a movement that keeps the watches very thin for an automatic movement, but the timing remains incredibly accurate.  It should be noted that both of these watches have wait times between five and nine months, and are in the $3500 USD price range.

So what will be the watch trends of 2016?

• Thin is in?
• Smaller is better? (40mm max?)
• Simple is preferred over complicated?
• The Apple Watch continues to take market share?
• Does the "vintage" rage roll on?
